Adding this mirin to any kind of Japanese dish such in a soup base for noodles, nimono (simmered dish), and sunomono (Japanese vinegared dish) will enhance the taste and umami.
Not only useful for enhancing the flavors but Hon Mirin also works for preserving ingredients and preparing raw dishes such as sashimi.
It also works surprisingly well in confectionery. Put a small amount of this mirin in the batter of pancakes, dorayaki, and castella sponge cake, to add a Japanese flavor.
